Presentation by Maria Casson, MSc. Psych. M. Ed., MBPsS – Educational Assessment Specialist will take place on Friday the 30th 5-6.30 pm or Saturday Dec. the 1st 10.30-12 am
All children have unique learning profiles. Psycho-Educational assessments can provide valuable information about the needs of children, especially those who may be experiencing some academic struggles. They can also uncover strengths that may facilitate learning. In this workshop we will learn why an assessment might be recommended, the best time to assess, what the tests entail and what the results can tell us. Post-assessment recommendations and interventions in order to support a child’s specific needs will also be explored, as well as the specific roles the assessor, parents, school and most importantly, the child, will play during the entire process.

This workshop provides parents and carers with some understanding and guidance about child development. Topics covered will include: the development of verbal language, play and self-esteem; sudden regression, signs of isolation or autistic withdrawal; relationship problems inside and outside the family,
peers and siblings, adolescent development and the long-term effects of early experience.
