“The Performance – Sex Like Birth”

Share
Put a couple having sex in the same shoes as a labouring woman in a hospital setting and what do you get?

This very funny, and astute, short film highlights how atmosphere, attitudes and interventions can influence birth by comparing it to sex, (seeing as how they are both governed by what Michel Odent calls “the hormone of love”) based on hormone truths.

This film has been translated into over six languages and has had over a million views. Many of the incredible troupe who created the film are a part of our Bellies Abroad Team including screenwriter and star, Gabriella Pacini.

It received the Artistic Direction Special Award at the Docscient International Scientific Film Festival in 2014 “For the surprising capacity to question indestructable scientific paradigms using a paradoxical narrative trick. Brilliant and extremely effective.” And has been used as an educational tool in birth courses around the world.
